You know those aquariums that attach to the crib and play music and lights? Jenna loved that when she was a baby, and then the batteries went dead (leaked all over it), and we didn’t fix it. Well, I fixed it a couple of days ago, and now I’m kind of regretting it. I think she’s finally asleep, but she’s been in there listening to the dang thing for 45 minutes. I was thinking for a while that I had it on some setting that wouldn’t turn off. So I looked in her room and watched her lay there until it shut off. As soon as it shut off, she stood up and pressed it again to start it over. Hmmm. Good in the morning, bad at night.
I am on a mission to get a cute picture of Jenna to use for a Christmas card. Although at the rate I’m going, I don’t even know if I’m sending Christmas cards this year! Anyway, it’s impossible! When she was a baby (yes, I’ve said when she WAS a baby twice in this post), she would just sit there and be cute. Now, she RUNS everywhere. By the time I focus, she’s at my feet, clawing at the camera. It’s hard to get a picture of a kid who is constantly trying to take the camera away from me. I’m sure everyone with a 1.5-year-old can relate. Or a 2-, or 3-year-old…when do they outgrow this?

There is just too much to do. Too busy! Life is great–really great, but there’s just a lot going on. I have fallen behind on blogs! I just caught up on a few, but I don’t have as much time to read them as I used to. Staying at home with Jenna is a blessing, but dang, if I don’t keep us both busy, we both go crazy! I find myself intentionally not getting everything I need at the grocery store, because going in the next day or two will give us something else to do.
There’s plenty to do at home, but anyone with a young toddler knows you can’t possibly get any of it done with said toddler constantly at your heels.
Work is keeping me busy during Jenna’s naptimes and some evenings. And then of course there’s cleaning, bill-paying, and all the chores I’d spend her naptime doing if I wasn’t working. I sure do miss “me time!” But I suppose that’s what this blog is. We all know how it is–we’re all busy. And don’t get me wrong–I’m so grateful to have part-time work to do.
I FINALLY finished the bedroom, which is a big relief! I got tired of having the card table & sewing machine set up in my room.
It’s hard to tell, but the fabric is a deep blue, with brown swirly things. The back wall is the same color blue. The other fabric is just off-white, with the same color swirly things. I just did the curtains, bedskirt, accent pillows, and pillow for the chair that you can’t see in the picture. And I gotta say–I don’t even think I dropped one f-bomb the whole time I was making this stuff! Rare for me & sewing.
Jay demolished the bathroom Saturday, so all his spare time is being spent on that. I can’t WAIT to have all that done. Finally, a year after moving into our house, we’ll be done with the things we wanted to do “right away.” But I guess a year’s really not that long.
One more day till Thanksgiving. What happened to November??? 86 degrees today…still waiting for the fall!
