Looks like it might be happening again. Back in June (or May?), Jenna was throwing up in the middle of the night. She was completely fine during the day, except for some mild diarrhea at first, but her doctor seemed to think it had to do with refulx. We put her on prevacid for a while and it stopped. Last night she was doing it again. It wasn’t quite as bad, since it was mostly just spit-up and not full-on vomit. TMI? Sorry, but everyone with little kids knows there’s no TMI. At first she woke up at 3 am crying and coughing. Jay went in and out pretty quickly, thinking she was back to sleep. Then she did it again 20 or so minutes later, and it was the same drill. But he said she gagged herself when she coughed. Then again around 4, so he brought his pillow in and slept in her bed with her. She was pretty much up for the rest of the night off & on (as were we), but woke up at 6:30 ready to go. She acted completely normal, and even more energetic than usual. Excpet that she gagged a few times the first hour she was awake. Hmmm. I don’t know what’s going on. Don’t know if we should start her back on prevacid or give it a few more sleepless nights to be sure.

I keep meaning to post about this, just so I won’t forget about it later. Because everything is a phase that doesn’t last very long. Jenna is being very sweet lately. For the past few weeks, whenever I ask her a question, the answer is usually “Yes, Mommy.” Not just yes or yeah or a head nod. Or it could be “No, Mommy,” but usually yes. “Jenna, are you tired?” “Yes, Mommy.” “Did you have fun today?” “Yes, Mommy.” Sometimes she forgets who she’s talking to. “Jenna, do you want to go see Mimi & Beebaw?” “Yes Mommy, Daddy, Mommy.” One time, she called me Maggie.

When I picked up Jenna from MDO yesterday, her teachers talked to me about how she has a hard time sitting still and concentrating. When they do “academics” (shapes, colors, ABCs), she doesn’t want to sit and focus. She wants to run around and play with whatever she wants to play with. I don’t know what is normal for this age, but I do know that she has a whole lot of energy and doesn’t sit still at home. They suggested flash cards. I had some color/shape flash cards that she’s been doing OK with, but I got some ABC flash cards as well. She will answer my questions about them as best she can, but while crawling on the table and trying to take them out of my hand. I’m not too concerned about it, but I do hope this isn’t an indicator of a problem she’ll have when she starts school. She looks at them and tells me what the picture/shape/color is when I ask, so it’s fine, right?
