Jenna and I went out to take a short walk, as we do most days, and when we were in the driveway, a man was walking by with this dog. Jenna, of course, wanted to pet & hug the dog and it was fine because the dog and the man were friendly. The man asked what her name was, and I said Jenna. He said “I have a daughter named Jenna too.” As he was walking off, he patted Jenna on the back and said “Bye, sweetheart. I hope you turn out better than my Jenna did.”
Hmmm. I don’t entirely know what he meant by that, but I do hope I don’t ever have to say anything like that.
I had my 24-week nasty orange glucose drink appointment today. Appointments from now on will be (hopefully) uneventful, until 36 weeks. I forgot how gross that orange drink was, until I went to drink it this morning and then felt sick to my stomach for about the next 2 hours. I told the nurse I felt sick and was that normal, and she said it’s very normal. I don’t remember it being that bad the first time around, but I also remember the drink being carbonated, which is way better.
I did take a belly shot today, since I think the last one I took was 18 weeks, but I’m too lazy & don’t want to take the time to post it now. It pretty much looks just like the 18-week one. We got our new camera though (a Canon powershot) and so far I really like it. It takes awesome videos too, but the files are huge. I will have to spend some time learning about the camera’s settings.

Saturday we went to a fall festival for a little while and Jenna got to ride a pony. It was her first pony ride, but I couldn’t get a picture since I don’t have a camera at the moment. Sad! She didn’t really seem to enjoy it all that much anyway. But she sure was cute! She got to see her friend, Maddi, and she LOVES Maddi. Gets so excited every time we’re going to see her. Whenever we even mention one of Maddi’s parents’ names, she starts talking about Maddi. Sometimes she’s too smart for me. And by the way, we should be getting the new Canon (ordered online) in the next day or 2. I’ll feel complete again.
This is a date I feel I need to record for future reference. October 1, 2008. Not because it was my BABY SISTER’S 30th, but because Jenna & I went to a playdate and she did NOT EAT. Yes, you read that correctly. There was cake, there was ice cream, there were chips, and there were cheerios. And when I asked her if she wanted any of it, she ate only one chip and said no to the rest. I’m afraid part of this may be due to her recent refulx, but it has never happened before. Ever. And she has been on prevacid and has not thrown up for the past few nights. Now we just need to figure out how long we need to keep her on it…
In my current Bible study, we talked about how often we complain. It made me consciously aware of how much I complain about pregnancy. I know I have mentioned this before, and I’ll mention it again but I really hate being pregnant. I am already so uncomfortable, and I’m barely over the halfway mark. So in the coming months, everyone should fear for my husband. I have, however, talked to many pregnant or recently pregnant women lately who also hate it. At least I know it’s not just me.
One last note…I have really loved walking around the neighborhood lately, enjoying this not-so-hot weather in the mornings. What would make it even more enjoyable is not having to dodge all the dog poop. I wish so much that people who walk their dogs around a residential neighborhood (or anywhere else, for that matter), would PICK UP ALL THE POOP!!!!
